If you’ve read Crumbs and Corkscrews recently you will know that I am a Weight Watchers member and headed back to my meetings in September, and that things have gone steadily downwards… yay!
But it’s fast approaching that time of year again, ’tis the season of cocktails and chocolate, little black dresses and party hats, the office Christmas party and the temptation of cheesy puff balls at the buffet! Working for myself, and from home, means that I avoid the Christmas Party scene, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t want to feel good about myself for the big day; even if whilst everyone is out partying I’m snuggled up in my PJs with a 1 ProPoint hot chocolate.
I’m not going to lie, loosing weight isn’t easy, and for me when you’re surrounded by cake everyday it takes a lot of willpower. I am really lucky to have a great support network, from my husband, Ian who cooks up some fabulous low ProPoint meals and checks my tracker, my Mum who sends me supportive messages, to my Weight Watcher Leader, Claire and then there’s my Weight Watchers friends.
Although I go to my weigh-in meetings on my own, I’m definitely not alone. I’ve made some fabulous friends, and everyone is at different stages of their weight loss journey – some have got to Gold, some have just started and some of us are well on the path to feeling fabulous. We all get to our meeting early so we can get weighed, pick up some munchies to nibble on to keep us going until we get home for dinner, then catch up on the gossip and how we’ve got on that week.
I love that everyone is looking out for each other; we keep each other motivated and on track, we swap recipes and handy hints, we’ve got moving and go for walks or a swim together, we celebrate the good times and we pick each other up when things maybe haven’t gone to plan.
But it doesn’t stop there… I’ve met some fabulous and inspirational ladies through Twitter and although we’ve never met (yet) and that we don’t go to the same meetings or some do Weight Watchers online, we’re there for each other and in this together!
I know weight loss is such a very personal thing, but you don’t have to be on your own; I completely believe in the Weight Watchers philosophy ‘Together is Better‘. Whether it’s your husband or wife, mother or father, old friends or someone you’ve just met, for me I think that having that support around you will spur you on and make the change in lifestyle that bit easier and you’ll be at goal before you know it!
So anyway, why I am telling you all this, well…
Weight Watchers are running a fantastic competition to experience a fridge makeover for one lucky person and a friend – we’re talking brand new state of the art fridges for you both, £250 worth of food, luxury Weight Watchers hampers filled with goodies and the support of a Health Guru!
How pretty cool does that sound… our fridge could probably do with a little makeover, although my salad drawer is looking particularly healthy *polishes halo*
