This popcorn isn’t technically his and her’s – one is not blue and the other is not pink, there’s no gender-colour stereotyping here. And really, if you’re a ‘her’ there’s nothing to say that you can’t eat the ‘his’ popcorn. It’s just in this house, they’re his and her’s, whilst I’m doing the being good thing.
So, this week I’ve a week off… shock horror! To be truthful, it’s been a long time coming, the last time was our honeymoon. Looking out of the window on to a dull, grey autumn morning, Kuramathi is worlds away. But, I’ve a jam-packed week and I’m definitely looking forward to catching up with friends and family; and most excited about movie night.
With cakes and wedding weekends, we don’t get much time to go to the flicks, and usually our “we must definitely see this” ends up being released on DVD and more often TV, before we get chance to catch it. This week will be different; we’re heading out to watch Rush. In between cakes and food, I love motorsport; anything with an engine and preferably two wheels but four is good. The speed, the smell, the sound, the chase. I love it.
Well, with being ‘good’ and that cinema snacks are over-priced and super-sized; I decided that I’d make my own. Weight Watchers are also heading up a campaign to introduce healthier options into cinemas. Now, in my defence my skinny caramel popcorn wasn’t particularly interesting to photograph, albeit tasty, so I ‘had’ to create the indulgent S’mores popcorn, for visual purposes of course. So we have:
- Hers – skinny and caramel
- His – full fat and a S’mores combination of marshmallows, biscuits and chocolate
Popcorn is a quick, simple and cheap snack to make, with a little going a long way. When you weigh out your kernels, you’ll think “that’s not a lot”, but when it starts popping you’ll be amazed at how much you have. These recipes are for stove-popped popcorn, but you can pop it in the microwave or with an air-popper if you have one, and get rid of the oil used in the pan.
I’m sending these popcorns to A Mummy Too’s #recipeoftheweek0
