Here’s a few answers, to some of the questions I’ve been asked over the years of blogging and baking. If you have a question that is not answered here, feel free to contact me.
What type of camera and software do you use?
I currently use a Canon 400D, and when that’s not to hand, it’s my trusty iPhone 4. For editing I use Adobe Photoshop CS4, but I’m slowly moving over to Adobe Lightroom. There’s more about my photography kit of choice on the picture making page.
Are all the photos on the blog yours?
Yes, they are all mine; unless credited.
Can I use one of your photos on my site?
Sure BUT you must credit me. It’s just a polite thing to do; and my blog is covered by a Creative Commons License. If in doubt, contact me.
Can I share your photos to Instagram?
NO! Sorry but there is not the means to be able to sufficiently credit me. I will report any photos posted on Instagram as copyright infringement.
Are you a Professional Pastry Chef?
Yes and No. Whilst, I am not classically trained, I am a self-taught baker and cake designer. I used to run my own bespoke cake design business, Louise Carruthers at Cirencester Cupcakes. I enjoy cooking, especially baking, and this blog is where I can indulge my urge to continue baking now I’ve returned to a ‘proper job’.
Your Brits use some strange ingredients, what are they?
Caster sugar is superfine sugar. Icing sugar is confectioner’s sugar. Any other ingredients you are not sure about, then Google is your friend!
Can you convert the measurements for me?
We use the metric system here in the UK. Again Google is your best friend; there are lots of measurement converters out there. I can’t guarantee their accuracy though, so I would personally recommend investing in a good set of digital scales.
Would you be interested in reviewing or trying my product?
Would you be interested in contributing material to my site, blog, etc?
Again, if your site is relevant to my blog, please feel free to drop me an email.
Can you add a link to my site on your blog?
The blogs listed on my blog roll, I read on a regular basis, because I love their work. I am always on the look out for fabulous new blogs to read. However, I do not add blogs, just because I am asked too. The best way to get on the list is to send me a link and let me see your work.
Can I link my site to your blog?
Be my guest, certainly!
Can you make me a cake?
I’m really sorry but I now only bake cakes for fun! Why not try out one of the recipes on the blog instead; they’re the ones I used to use in the shop.
