Welcome to the little corner of the internet where cake designer meets food fanatic and amateur picture maker with otherwise general musings of the best, and sometimes the not so good things in life. So then here goes… and if you’re really nosey check out my 51 Useless Facts about Me, for randomness and smiles!
Well… that’s me up there. I am Louise; a little on the short side, very much on the silly side (as you can see); but generally an all round lover of life! I’m Coventry born, and live in the heart of the beautiful Cotswolds. I’m a research psychologist turned cake designer turned elearning geek. I love food, and have the hugest sweet tooth – sugar fiend! I bake a lot. I experiment a lot. Sometimes it doesn’t work, but when they do they end up here. The only thing that sometimes gets in my way, I’m allergic to peanuts.
Many years ago I decided to start a blog called Happy Food, it was at the start of my cake adventures and let me document the ups and downs of making my Brother’s wedding cake. It went really well, in fact the cake was so good that when I was made redundant I launched my own cupcake shop, Cirencester Cupcakes. Life got a little hectic and Happy Food just podded along for a few years whilst I made 1000s of cupcakes. Then life changed, the lease ended on my shop, and my bespoke cakes were in demand. I moved back to work from home, the blog was reborn, but feeling a little more grown up, emerging as Crumbs and Corkscrews, only to then be lured to the completely different world of elearning.
I bake a lot, well I am a cake designer; but I love desserts. I might be weight-watching but I’m definitely a full fat, full sugar kinda girl when it comes to my cakes; what is the point of a skinny cake?! Ice-cream is my downfall, I love it; although, an ice-cream maker is significantly lacking in my kitchen… boo! I love experimenting and quite often raid the back of the fridge for a quick savoury creation. My book shelves groan under the weight of a variety of books, from Delia to Heston, Jamie to Zumbo. What you’re about to read isn’t guaranteed fool-proof recipes or perfect pictures; but just a girl test driving her kitchen and seeing what happens.
